Moon Valley Organics has been family- and farm-owned since 1998 with no acquisition and no outside investment, so the independence is real and long-standing. The body wash is USDA certified organic and Leaping Bunny cruelty-free, made from saponified organic plant oils with farm-grown herbs — no synthetic surfactants or preservatives. We keep it at 9 only because the essential-oil scent in the scented versions is a potential allergen for reactive skin.

Potassium hydroxide is the saponifying agent (fully reacted, not a residual). Essential-oil fragrance is the one thing to watch for sensitive skin.
